CLEOPATRA FINAL HOLOGRAM
It was the 4th century BCE when, as a young man, he became the scourge of the Persians. His empire stretched from Eastern Europe almost as far as India. In 332 he took the Nile Valley from the previously invincible King Darius. (Pause)
His name was Alexander...
But he soon became known as Alexander Magnus... Alexander the Great.
At the age of just 25 Alexander ruled over a vast territory that no king had ever ruled over before. Wherever he went, he annihilated his enemies, but he was also able to respect their beliefs and traditions. Upon his arrival in Egypt, the young military man was considered the liberator of Persian rule, and with his ascension to the throne as the new Pharaoh, he became the most powerful king of his time.
After his death in Babylon, Alexander left behind a territory whose government could hardly be managed by a single hand. His son Alexander IV was unable to follow in his footsteps and the empire ended up disintegrating. Egypt fell into the hands of the most faithful of its generals... Ptolemy.
He took over the reins of Egyptian government and became Ptolemy I. Thus was born one of the most important dynasties in Egyptian history.
His son Ptolemy II began the construction of the Library of Alexandria. In successive generations, his family made it the greatest centre of knowledge of the ancient world.
Under the rule of his successors the power of the Egyptian empire was extended to a level never before experienced by the Pharaohs in Egypt.
Ptolemy III, Ptolemy IV, Ptolemy V, VI, VII, VIII...
However, the dynasty entered into a lengthy decline that led one of its monarchs to ask for help from the emerging Rome in order to regain its former glory. This man was Ptolemy XII.
He had a daughter who would change the history of his country.
Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt.
At the age of 18, in order to ascend to the throne, Cleopatra married her brother, Ptolemy XIII. But she wanted to rule alone and soon got rid of him. Her ambition to regain the dynasty's lost power led her to approach the most powerful military man of the time: Julius Caesar.
The young Cleopatra was totally unlike all the other kings and queens who had preceded her. She was intelligent, sharp, brilliant in diplomacy and always had her sights set on defending Egypt's interests. Her alliance with Julius Caesar brought the queen and Egypt wealth, status, power and a son named Caesarion. But the couple's excellent cooperation only lasted a few years and, when Caesar was assassinated, she had to find another foothold if she was to keep ruling with dignity...
Chaos reigned in Rome and in her search for stability, Cleopatra found a new alliance with one of the generals who had served in Caesar's army and who now ruled the East... including Egypt... Mark Antony. They fell in love and had three children. But their alliance was not the wisest choice... Octavian, Mark Antony's fellow ruler, did not accept his strategy and Rome declared war on them both. The Battle of Actium marked their end, bringing them to a tragic death.
However, the memory of the queen did not die with her, but rather it has been preserved through the centuries to the present day...
Now, enter Cleopatra's world... and experience the story for yourself.
